Phuket + China: two trips for the price of one flight

The flight to Southeast Asia is long either way — spending it on a single beach is a waste. Add a few days in Guangzhou: the city sits right on the way back.

Why it works

Phuket is a ten-hour trip from Moscow and almost always involves a connection. If the connection is unavoidable, make it a part of the holiday: flights between Phuket and southern China take 3–4 hours, and the return leg from Guangzhou costs roughly the same as from Phuket. The second half of the trip costs you almost no extra airfare.

How to split the days

Seven nights in Phuket and three in Guangzhou is the proportion that works. A week on the island covers the beaches plus Phang Nga and Phi Phi; three nights in Guangzhou cover Canton Tower, old Shamian Island, Qingping market and the real reason to come — the food. Want a slower pace? Add a night to each stop in the day planner below and the price recalculates.

When to go

November to March is the window: dry season in Phuket, and Guangzhou has cooled down. From May to October the island gets monsoon rain (short but the sea can be rough) and Guangzhou is humid and up to 33 °C. The planner shows a seasonal note for each stop in the month you pick.

Check before you book

For Russian passports both destinations are currently visa-free: Thailand for 60 days per entry, mainland China for 30 days (in force since 15 September 2025 and extended through the end of 2027, with no limit on the number of entries). Other passports differ, so check yours — the planner shows the status it has, the consulate site is the authoritative source. Also check the connection: leaving the airport in a third country may require a transit visa.
